We became Hubz & Bubz!
- Saturday, 17 August 2013
Hello my friends!
Wow, it feels like forever since I properly touched base with you guys. I missed you all so so much. Did you miss little me? How has everybody been? I think this is the longest I've been 'away' in a while. It actually just hit me that Summer is actually ending soon. I had such a great Summer that I'm almost kind of sad that it's ending soon...
As some of you already know, Tim and I finally became Hubz and Bubz on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. We can't believe that a whole year of wedding planning just passed by with a blink of an eye. I want to apologise if I haven't been active on Youtube, Facebook, Twitter or this website. Wedding planning was crazy leading up to the big day. Now we have another Chinese wedding banquet for Monday. Things will go back to normal when I return back to Hong Kong on Wednesday. I know many of you are waiting for our wedding video. We are just as eager as you guys. Let's all be patient while we wait for the magic of our wonderful videographer team.
For now, I'm just going to talk a little about the most special day of our lives.
Weather has not been very pleasant in Northern Ireland. It's been gloomy and wet and many feared that it will rain on our special day. I began to pray for good weather months before the day. As time came sooner, I asked my friends, family and subscribers to pray for a beautiful day. I remember the week leading up to our big day, many people read the weather forecast. They told me that we should bring umbrellas as a back up plan since the forecast didn't look very good. Something deep within me told me to have faith. In fact, I had a very strong feeling that God was telling me it won't be needed. While some thought I was just being plain silly, I had this strong feeling within me. It was weird joyful feeling. It was amazing. I have never been so sure of something before.
On the morning of our wedding, I woke up to a dark sky. I was not discouraged. I dropped to my knees and prayed. After, I headed to the bathroom to wash my face and brush my teeth and by the time I returned- I saw a little blue gap of light between the dark clouds. I was so moved I started to cry with happiness. The clouds began to scatter apart. Without a doubt, God answered our prayers and I want to thank everybody for praying for us. We know thousands prayed for us and you've heard the saying right? One candle lights a thousand. Throughout the day was sunny with the exceptional few little showers that lasted about 1 minute each time. Until today, we are still amazed because the day after our wedding, it has been raining buckets since.
Our wedding was very intimiate with only 85 guests. Chinese weddings are usually large and while I think it's lively in it's own sense, Tim and I wanted something special for ourselves and our closest loved ones. I wasn't just excited about getting married to the love of my life, I was also excited to have a super reunion of our wonderful friends who traveled from all parts of the World to be part of our special day. We truly felt so so loved. My bridesmaids are the closest closest girls in my life and even Tim's groomsmen are close friends of mine too. It was just such a fun intimate wedding and until today, we are still buzzing. We have such amazing friends and I can't wait until the next wedding so we can all reunite again.
The question you guys ask is 'How is Married Life?'. So far, it's been wonderful ^__^ While everything pretty much feels the same, it also feels like we have this super bond between us now. We feel closer.
Chinese tradition is, I have to live at Tim's family's place for a few days. That was pretty emotional to me because it really felt like I was really being married off (despite it only being 3 days). Even when I returned back home for a couple days, my family kept asking when I'm leaving. All my life, I've lived in that house so now to see it as my secondary home makes me feel a little emotional. My granny wasn't used to waking up and not seeing me in the kitchen. At the same time, I also gained a new beautiful family so I'm all good ^__^ I know the term, being married sounds very grown up but honestly everything still feels the same since we're still like big kids.
I hop back and forth from my own home and Tim's home so I think married life will feel more real when we're back in Hong Kong in our own apartment again. We have plans to travel and volunteer so it's going to be an exciting year.
I don't want to spill too much about the wedding because I don't want to expose too much for now but here are some pictures from my friend's cameras. It will take a while before we get to see pictures from our photographer so I'm so thankful our friends took pictures for us.
