Can't cover your dark circles?

How to effectively conceal dark circles

dark-circles

My dark circles is probably my most problematic area of my face. Sometimes, even with a face full of makeup; I can still look tired and lifeless. I am a victim of hay fever and sinuses so my nose is constantly bunged up causing my eyes to swell up all the time.

The Shu Uemura UV base is a primer that you apply to your entire face before makeup application. I bought my first bottle about 2 years ago because I was intrigued by the light mousse consistency of the product. It claims to give a flawless canvas by minimizing the appearance of large pores, smoothing out the surface of the skin and providing long wearing makeup.

I was definitely impressed with how it really helped my makeup adhere to the skin. It felt hydrating and kept my makeup long lasting all day. It smoothed the fine lines and little bumps in my face and made sure my makeup wouldn't slip or slide.

However, I had a tiny problem with this product. It has SPF 30 PA++ which isn't really a bad thing. It means it protects my skin against sun damage but it did create a slight white cast on my face. I don't wear a lot of makeup so my foundation/powder didn't really cover this 'white cast'. To be honest, I was probably applying too much back then but I actually stopped using the product for about a year because frankly, I forgotten about it.

It was only until these past few weeks that I started to use this product again. My friend Sara (Icyabstract) raved about it on her Twitter and somehow it intrigued me to use the product again. This time I didn't use it on my entire face, I only used it for my under eye area.

I don't know about you guys but I just can't cake makeup on my face in this crazy hot climate. I just like to wear concealer to cover up my dark circles but I found that no matter how amazing the concealer is, it just didn't cover as well as want it to be (despite setting it with powder).
Plus, throughout the day it would migrate and slide down my cheeks.

My concealer covered so much better with the Shu Uemura underbase. It hydrated the area under my eyes very well and really allowed the concealer to adhere to the skin. It did not cake under the eyes and it kept the concealer long lasting throughout the day too. Very impressed.

Since there aren't a lot of good under eye primers on the market, I recommend this product because it will last you for a while. I've still to come across a 'magical' concealer' that can conceal my dark circles but for now, the Shu Uemura UV base works well for me.
